About the author - Terry MacKinnell
|
Terry MacKinnell was born in December 1951 in Sydney, Australia where he lived until 1980 (except for two years residence in California in the early 1960s). He became interested in Western astrology in 1971 (or 1972), and after teaching himself (modern) Western astrology he began learning Vedic astrology in the mid 1980’s. For a short period he wrote the weekly astrology predictions for the Byron Bay Echo newspaper in the 1980's. In 1987 while living near Byron Bay Terry came up with the inspiration for his research into the precessional ages. In some kind of a flash of inspiration, he realised that astrological ages should not have fuzzy borders, as nowhere else in astrology does such vagueness or indeterminacy occur between adjoining zodiacal signs. Over the coming few months he turned his attention towards this project and finally published the booklet Research Notes on Macro-Astrology Part 1 The Rectification of the Aquarian Age in 1994 (referred to by Nicholas Campion in his book The Book of World Horoscopes (1999, Pg 489). Between 2000 and 2006 he pursued his research into the astrological ages in earnest and published numerous articles on the astrological ages in: The FAA Journal (published by The Federation of Australian Astrologers) AA Journal (published by the Astrological Association of Great Britain) The International Astrologer(published by ISAR - International Society of Astrological Research) NCGR bi-monthly newsletter (published by the National Center for Geocosmic Research) Acrux (the bi-monthly newsletter of the Queensland branch of the FAA) Astrological Monthly Review (former monthly magazine published in Australia and distributed throughout Australia and New Zealand) (Some of these previously published articles are available at the Yahoo site for macro-astrology: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/macro-astrology/) ****** In 2007, while suffering from a debilitating hip problem that effectively prevented him from walking for many months, Terry took advantage of his lack of mobility and commenced writing The Dawning. Initially the original version of the book is what now constritutes Part 1 plus the final chapter Outline of the Future. In 2008 Terry had added a chapter on age-decans but by early 2009 this had greatly expanded to the point it was necessary to break this chapter into a number of chapters and place them in Part 2 of the book. 2010 was a year of revsion and editing and finally by late January 2011, while on one of his frequent trips to Ubud, Bali, he completed the final reading of the manuscript with Stuart Railton, and emailed it to the publishers. The editing process with the publishers was completed by 9 March 2011, and the first copy of the book arrived on 12 April 2011. Unfortunately the first copy was full of errors, and it was not until August 2011 these errors were corrected. Terry also currently maintains the research blog: Demystifying the Aquarian Age available at http://macroastro.wordpress.com/blog-index/ plus has commenced a series of interviews with KSFR (a radio station in Sante Fe, New Mexico) in the weekly Moonwise astrology program.
